Privacy & storage
Where are my scans stored?
In the app on your device. Zency Scan has no server that stores your documents, and it never uploads your scans. Pages leave your phone only when you share or export them.
Do I need an account?
No. Open the app and scan. There is nothing to sign up for and no email to give.
Does text recognition (OCR) work offline?
Yes. Text recognition runs on your phone — Apple's Vision on iPhone and Google ML Kit on Android — so it works on a plane or anywhere without signal.
Can I lock the app?
Yes, for free. Set a 4-digit PIN and unlock with Face ID or your fingerprint. With Pro you can also password-protect individual PDFs you export.

Is Zency Scan a subscription?
No. Scanning and exporting are free with no watermark. Your first 20 pages include every Pro feature. Lifetime Pro is a one-time $7.99 purchase — see Pricing.
What happens after my first 20 pages?
You can keep scanning, importing and exporting as much as you like. Pro features (search inside scans, copy text, Word and searchable PDF export, fill & sign and PDF tools) unlock when you buy Pro. Your first 20 pages keep search, copy text and Word / searchable PDF export forever.
Does deleting pages give me free pages back?
No. The free page counter counts every page you add and does not go down when you delete pages, and on iPhone it is kept when you reinstall the app.
How do I restore Pro on a new phone?
Sign in to the same Apple ID or Google account, open Settings → About → Restore purchase.
Using the app
How do I move my documents to a new phone?
Use Settings → Export backup to save one backup file, move it to the new phone (AirDrop, Files, a USB cable or your own cloud drive) and use Settings → Import on the new phone. Your device's own backup can also include the app.
Which languages can it read?
Printed text in Latin-script languages such as English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Portuguese works best. Results depend on print quality and lighting; handwriting is not supported yet.
Can I tap a phone number or email on a scanned page?
Yes. On iPhone, Live Text detects phone numbers, emails, links, addresses and dates. On Android, emails, links and phone numbers are detected, and addresses and dates where the phone's system supports it.
Which devices are supported?
iPhone (including the foldable iPhone Duo) and Android phones and tablets.
Is Zency Scan the same app as Zency?
No. Zency Scan is a focused scanner. Zency is a separate private document vault for IDs, receipts, warranties and reminders.
